If you could take one of your favorite programming languages and make some fundamental change(s) to it (or alternatively, create a new language similar to it, but doing key things differently), what would you change?

See, the great part about picking any Scheme or Lisp is, you can just fix it with macros.

make a version of lisp that allows you to drop some of the parentheses but isn't all sinister and pure like haskell

Now, this said, if I live long enough I'm going to create a programming language that will rule them all. *laughs loud and sounding evil*

Iโ€™d like C but with a proper string type. Maybe some first class SIMD types, too.
