One of the hardest part of my job is that I have to estimate how long it will take for me to even figure out what's going on, what I need to do, and then do it

@Ji Fu "Leadership has stated they will continue to randomly take three hours of your time without any warning or prep, and without notice. Also, we want to understand your time, can you tell me how long individual things will take?"

@silverwizard @Ji Fu The trick to estimations is not to estimate time correctly, but to estimate abstract points that have no relation to time, and then learn over time how much time those points roughly tend to take.

There's no guarantee that it's ever going to be accurate, but maybe calculating with those points will keep management off your back for a while.

@Martijn Vos @Ji Fu Yeah - that makes sense - it's just super hard to even figure out what I want to work on when the environment is so weird

@Ji Fu @Martijn Vos Sorry, want to in the sense of "I am doing this project and every time I do something I find a yak to shave"
