i feel like a weirdo for liking biters in factorio because everyone else wants to turn them off lol
if you turn them off then like, what's the game? what part of it makes it a game
@monorail the building in itself is a game. not all games have to have a loss condition or apply pressure to the player. there are a number of peaceful factory games i quite enjoy, factory town chief among them
sure but like, without biters you just... will win. and you can make it faster but there's not like

idk. i don't get it but that's fine
@monorail i mean some people like play civilization games with no opponents. different people get different things out of games
@holly hoppet :heart_ace: :trans_heart: I tend to leave biters on, but only in the last 2 years or so, mostly as a puzzle dimension I'm not used to. So I think they're good, just I feel like they're late game.
my personal experience only:

once I got a strategy for handling biters it turned into just pure toil in future playthroughs. I'm always going to win eventually if I keep playing. Sometimes I start a new factory for the chill coziness of a comfort game. My longest run was no biters no cliffs just frictionless little machine building toy mode
this is probably why I've bounced off every overhaul mod, no matter how much everyone loves it. They're all harder and more of a slog and that's just not what I want out of an overhaul. I want new experiences that expand that cozy mode, but that doesn't seem to be something anyone's doing
@MsNostromo you might quite like factory town then. it's a very cozy factory game
This is the most compelling review for a factory game I've ever read
Turn them off? As in shoot them? I turn them off with my tank.
