Who is working on fediverse software for e-girls and sex workers? Serious question. Serious answers only.
in reply to wakest ⁂

Good Question.

May I ask you to be a bit more precise:

Are you looking for some kind of #ActivityPub #client or sth?

in reply to Kevin Karhan

@kkarhan Really just looking to anyone who has been thinking about this space and also interested in the building tech that is explicitly not trying to exploit people.
in reply to wakest ⁂

Have many friends working in this field and the current places are awful. I know this is also a super dangerous territory but the alternatives are as well.
in reply to wakest ⁂

workers owned porn sites and onlyfans-like are much needed imo. Not so sure for sex workers instances, maybe it’s early for those :o
in reply to ex_06

@ex_06 100% yes on the worker owned. But behind porn and onlyfans like things are the same issues with centralization that plague every other part of society
in reply to wakest ⁂

@ex_06

I would not mind working on things like that, the problem is that I don't know any sex worker personally so I don't know what kind of thing they would need.

If I can implement communications using e2ee I don't even mind hosting instances for people that don't know how. If you have people that want something like that, you can point them to me and I can try to tinker something

@silberfuchs @Kolektiva.media @˗ˏˋ wakest ˎˊ˗ switter.at got pretty ruined by Cloudflare and I don't know what happened to the energy. I believe that the people behind it are running tryst.link?
in reply to wakest ⁂

I've encountered multiple instances that are at least supportive of SW, don't ban it or anything, my alt is on one, but instances specifically created to cater to SW I've not found (there was one, but it's gone now)

I would be very appreciative of a SW exclusive instance to get help and also promote myself with.

in reply to silverwizard

@silverwizard @kolektiva @silberfuchs yeah I should probably just contact them specifically to understand the issues that destroyed it. but also they were just running a mastodon instance and really what I was thinking about is more developing something specific
in reply to wakest ⁂

I wouldn't even consider hosting one of these on Mastodon - which has very little protection against spam/harassment. I think a few have tried and couldn't block abusers fast enough to keep up.

You probably want to put these on a permissions based system if you want to have a life. The first thing you need is a platform with comment controls to stop the dickpics and dogpiles. Streams (for instance) also has distributed moderation and moderated groups which can further help you to keep the riff-raff under control.

in reply to wakest ⁂

whoever it is, they’d be in one of the dwindling number of jurisdictions without FOSTA/SESTA-analogue laws.
in reply to acb

@acb yeah I mean personally at this point I don't think it makes sense to do it in a way that is attached to ANY country or within the laws of a specific jurisdiction, but I guess talking to people who are already working on software that isn't nation state approved and figuring out the right framework for that etc
@acb
in reply to wakest ⁂

As a former sex worker and bondage model, I have wondered the same thing. Someone builds the instance, I can find a Lot of people who'd be interested, if the instance is well-managed.
in reply to Vayl Larkin (they/them)

@VaylLarkinPoet I think just a steight up mastodon instance might not be the best software, but yes I am definitely interested in helping in making a space for sex workers over here on the fediverse and would love to try to get together a team of people to discuss what the requirements are exactly. Would be nice to get some tech folks and some sex workers in a secure groupchat together and plot out what exactly would make the most sense.

@silverpill is there an instance I can get a test account on and see how far along your software is?
Unknown parent

halcy

@silberfuchs specifically they closed because the regulatory environment tightened up so much that the org behind saw no reasonable way to keep it going assemblyfour.com/switter-publi…

which isn’t to say that someone couldn’t - but probably not without a solid and actual business model, because lawyers don’t work for free, and you’ll need those

@astraluma @halcy @silberfuchs are they antifascist/anticapitalist?
in reply to halcy

@halcy @silberfuchs I will add that existing software works perfectly fine as just a twitter-like.

You'll only need development hours if you want to provide features like home pages or sales.

I can put you in touch with people that made serious attempts at SW sites/apps recently.

in reply to AstraLuma

@astraluma @halcy @silberfuchs would love to be put in touch! wakest:matrix.org or 14156665227 on signal (my number has already been public for many years so no reason not to post it)
in reply to wakest ⁂

@halcy @silberfuchs They've declined to be included but did echo what previous people have said:

it's incredibly risky (read: needing expensive lawyers) right now. The business operational requirements are so much bigger than any other industry is boggles the mind.

I don't recommend starting a service that handles adult content right now.
