I realize this is like drawing a conjuring circle for nerds on the floor, but: If I wanted to build a pfSense box for my gigabit-internet home office network... what's a good bit of hardware for that these days?

Apparently the Intel i225 series of NICs had serious stability problems until the B3 stepping so you might see advertisements for "4x i225-B3" even though there is officially no such designation. The i226/i226-V is apparently just a bugfixed i225.

@gnomon Also you can consider a Tiny/Mini/Micro PC for the purpose, sometimes you can get 'em nice and cheap on eBay!

zimaboard.com/zimaboard/produc… this looks incredibly cheap, and I'm going to be buying one for exactly this purpose basically when I get paid
