Pre-twitter breakdown mastodon users: I have a real question for you. How do we balance free-flowing discussion with CW? Most of us coming from twitter want to #respect the environment here, but we also came here because we wanted that quick back and forth (and, yeah, sometimes comments that make us go, "oh no she didn't!") and the CW stops that in its tracks. There's been the complaints about silencing certain voices as well. Please, send out suggestions that aren't simply "CW everything!" #CW

I can deal with the initial CW, it's having to expand each reply on that thread that's really annoying.

I also hate to have to expand everything... apparently there's a way to expand automatically... but friendica works differently than mastodon in regards to cws and I'm on friendica

@Shelenn Ayres @Becky Settings -> Social Networks -> General -> Uncheck "Enable Content Warnings"

Once you do that, you may still want to propagate the Content Warning to which you're replying, in this case, go to Settings -> Additional Features -> Post Composition -> Check "Add an abstract from ActivityPub content warnings".

@Shelenn Ayres @Becky In this case there's no way to expand automatically all the posts that were collapsed as a result of the user-controlled filters whether it's with the Advanced Content Filter addon, the NSFW addon or the language addon (I may be missing a coupl).

@Angela Loves Salem I only see a use for CW with NSFW posts. Anyone asking me to CW other posts get unfollowed/muted/blocked. I don't have time for topic censorship.
