I like the work of these people:

  • Molly White
  • Cory Doctorow
  • Bruce Schneier
  • Brian Krebs

But I can’t follow them directly, it is absolutely depressing to me. I don’t know how you folks are doing.

@silverwizard It isn’t a technical issue, it’s an emotional issue. Everything they report on is important and devastating to me. I can only take it in small doses, which means second-hand from my other follows.

@Hypolite Petovan that makes sense

I find Doctorow fairly hopeful, and Molly White fairly schaudenfreude, but I get it

@silverwizard I can't find the hope in Doctorow's content, and White herself closed twitter is going great because it was becoming a drag to report on the freefall.

And you should definitely stick to either first, last or full names consistently for both men and women you mention. 😉

in reply to Hypolite Petovan

@Hypolite Petovan I mean, I stick to "How I think about people" which isn't consistent at all, I can't think of a person named White.

And valid, I get her reporting being too stressful, I am good at shaudenfreude.

For Doctorow he has been writing some about fixes and the people in the Biden admin doing well, which are valuable perspectives.

@silverwizard It's just a casual sexism trope, mentioning men by their last names but women by their first.

I'm glad to hear about Doctorow's lighter work, but unfortunately this isn't what gets shared in my timeline! 😭

@silverwizard It's Trump, Musk, Zuckerberg, Bezos, but Hillary, Oprah, Meghan, etc... it isn't always the case but frequent enough for me to be careful to how I mention people.
