Imagine if you wanted to build a single page static html website and people basically told you: Well, you need a CI pipeline and a site generator and you should use react.

"Can't I just like.. open up a word processor and build a website?"

lol no my dudes. Nothing supports that anymore. You need to install vscode and sniff this jar of farts.

This is modern web development.

it’s a tragedy. A friend recently went with Google docs and HTML export.

I am convinced that if someone suggested HTML today it'd be rejected.

Documents... but we have PDF for those.

@Miah Johnson I gotta admit that I make all my webpages in markdown and then throw them through an SSG

But the SSG is just some shell to wrap the output of `markdown_py` in a header and a footer...

I've spent a few years building web apps in React, and I'm over it. Next thing I do will be html/css/jquery and maybe some bare bones framework again.
