not to be insane about it but this project is literally my childhood dream like, when I was a kid, I wanted to learn how to code, so I could make a very simple little game where you would build a little park on a hexagon floating in the sky, and your friends would have their own little hexagons to decorate, and as they logged on they would all join up together into a larger area where you could all chat and be around each other
and now I'm someone who can literally just do that could you imagine I was 11 years old when I first wanted to do this "an mmo where you can run and customize your own world (so I don't have to pay for the server), and have your friends come to visit" and then I found out about the hypergrid protocol that literally already does that, and all I needed to do was learn how to implement the protocol and now I can
IT IS EXTREMELY FAR FROM HAPPENING LMAO I'm just making an opensimulator viewer at the moment and that's going to take one BILLION years alone because it is a huge protocol with decades old secondlife dependencies that is writen in C# I'm writing a rust implementation of the protocol so people can extend it and write their own hypergrid browsers
@tonicfunk and also make a client that I can use for my own nefarious purposes (of making my childhood dreams a reality) but this is the first big step on a long road of code
it may be a while away but!!! it's an awesome project!!!! and the fact that you're making a rust thing to make it easier for other people to use it is really cool too!!!
please post updates! (if ur able/feel like it hehe)
