I got frustrated that an engineer complained I was wasting my time on a "deep dive" into an OS configuration issue. Which is literally what the recruiter told me I was being hired to do.

I have to remind myself that this place is evil, and I should be looking for ways to undermine it, while not undermining my co-workers.

Strictly speaking, I was unable to fix the problem. I determined it was a configuration issue, not a hardware issue. I wasn't sure why the OS was configured as it was, so I summarized what I'd found out and suggested two paths to resolving the problem.

I was told I'm just a pair of hands on-site. Pretty insulting, really.
